The Nerazzuri had been heavily linked with a move for the Manchester City midfielder, with Roberto Mancini publicly declaring his interest in his former protege Toure as the ideal reinforcement for the midfield.
But the club opted to complete deal with Monaco for Kondogbia, with the French youngster penning down a five year contract with the Italia side.
During his presentation yesterday, Thohir acknowledge the talent of the young midfielder and claims that he was a better deal than securing Yaya Toure from Manchester City.
"Kondogbia is much younger than Toure, and can become a much better player with time," the Indonesian declared to reporters. "Geoffrey will become the cornerstone of a young and strong project.
"I'd like to welcome Kondogbia to the club. It was wonderful to see the fans giving him such an enthusiastic welcome today, showing how much they love Inter.
"We want to create a great side, and now it's up to the players to bring the results."
