Andy Cole tips Rio Ferdinand for England role

Following the exit of Young Lions from the Under 21 European Championship on wednesday night, Andy Cole believes Rio Ferdinand should be given a role within the England set-up.
The Young Lions only needed a draw from the match to guarantee progression into the last four, but crumbled to the Italian Under 21 side by three goals to one.
The former Manchester United strkier believes that Rio Ferdinand would command respect from Enland's young generation.
Andy Cole wrote on his Twitter Timeline;  "A lot of people saying poor management?! Who would you want in charge? Is it the FA too political in their manager choice?!
"England and the FA need bit more character.. Think outside the box! Step forward Rio Ferdinand - younger generation can relate to him!"
Ferdinand brought the curtain down on his 20-year career at the end of last season, as he announced his retirement from football.
The most successful period of his career came during his 12-season spell at Manchester United where he won 18 major honours.
