"As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy'' - Clyne

Liverpool new signing Nathaniel Clyne has told the club's official website how delighted he is with his move to Anfeild.

"I'm delighted and it's a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club with all of its history," Clyne told Liverpool's official website. "I can't wait to get started.

"As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through.

"The gaffer has shown a lot of interest in me and this is a place where I can improve as a player, I think. It's definitely a good opportunity to come here and try to fulfil my potential.

"I've played at Anfield before and know what the atmosphere is all about. It's a great atmosphere and will make me rise to the challenge. I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully it can push me on to putting on good performances."

Clyne is now the fourth player to join Liverpool from Southampton since the end of 2013-14, linking up with former team-mates Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren at Anfield.

''Gundogan would be a flop at Barca, Bayern or PSG'' - Lothar Matthaus

Germany and Bayern Munich legend, Matthaus thinks it would be wise for the 24-year-old to reconsider ditching Dortmund as he thinks Gundogan would not impress should he join a bigger club.
"I do not think that Gundogan would've made it into the first team at top European clubs like Barcelona, Bayern or Paris Saint-Germain," he told Sport Bild. "At Dortmund, the situation is different.
"The club have given him time to recover his fitness and, as a professional footballer, it's time to repay that faith and extend his contract until 2019.
"He now has a great opportunity to develop in a world-class BVB side and be involved in the national team again."
